Privacy and Data Collection Policies of GeneXus Consulting (GXC)

GXC considers the privacy of its users as a matter of great importance. Please read the following to learn more about our privacy policy. This document covers the treatment that GXC gives to personally identifiable information we collect when you browse our web pages or use our products and services. This does not include the practices of companies that GXC does not own or control, or individuals that GXC does not directly employ or hire.

Collection and Use of Information

  • We collect personally identifiable information when you register for an account at GXC or participate in promotions, contests, or giveaways organized by GXC.
  • When you register for an account, we ask for your name, email address, company or organization you work for, and country of residence.
  • GXC also automatically receives and records information from your browser, such as your IP address, cookie information, and the page you requested.
  • GXC uses the collected information for two general purposes: to fulfill your specific product or service requirements and to contact you if necessary.

Access to Information by Third Parties

GXC will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone. However, GXC may share your personally identifiable information with other companies or organizations only under the following circumstances:

  • If we have your consent to share the information.
  • If we need to share your information to provide the product or service you requested.
  • If we need to send the information to companies or organizations working on behalf of GXC to provide the requested product or service. (Unless explicitly stated, these companies or organizations do not have the right to use the information we provide, except as strictly necessary to fulfill the required assistance.)
  • If we respond to court orders or legal processes.

IP Addresses

When your browser requests a web page from another computer on the Internet, it automatically provides that computer with the address to which the information should be sent. This is what is called an IP address, where IP stands for Internet Protocol. For most users accessing the Internet from a dial-up account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP), the IP address will be different each time they connect.

Collection of IP Addresses and Their Use

GXC receives IP addresses from all its users because this information is automatically reported by their browser each time they request a web page.

Your IP address may also be stored in our user records when you create your account.

IP addresses can be used for different purposes, including:

  • Diagnosing technical or service problems reported by our users or administrators associated with IP addresses controlled by a specific ISP.
  • Selecting advertising to be included on our pages based on geographic area or other information derived from your IP address. Most IP addresses are commonly associated with ISPs, universities, or large corporations in specific locations or regions.
  • Estimating the total number of visitors to GXC from specific countries or regions.

Cookies

A cookie (plural: cookies) is a small amount of data, usually including a unique anonymous identifier, sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer.

Each website can send its own cookies to your browser if your browser allows it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only allows a website to read cookies that it has sent, not the cookies sent by other sites.

Options Regarding Cookies

  • You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or prompt you for each case. (Each browser is different; refer to the help section of your browser to learn how to modify your settings.)
  • If you reject all cookies, you may not be able to access GXC’s websites, products, and services that require you to enter your username and password (login). However, other websites, products, and services on GXC may not require your browser to accept cookies.
